Hi Guys ! just wanted to know . I know lorikeets go through puberty stage at what age does occur ? how long will it go for? I've got a Olive rainbow. He's about 14 weeks he gets a bit nippy at play time and bites hard. Id hate to see his puberty stage .

Tonyo, I don't keep keets anymore, lets just say had a very bad experience with a pair of Red Collars. I am guessing you have a hand reared baby. If you haven't had it to long, it might be just settling in still. I would put him straight back in the cage as soon as he nips. Give him rewards or treats for when he is good.
The ones i had probably got real mean about the age of 18 months. I do hand rear them for a breeder though & have found them to be very sweet little guys.
Maybe there is someone else that is more experienced in keeping them, that can help.

Yes he is hand read. He's very sweet but, I think he's associating his being nippy as a play thing. Just rough play so to speak.
