RIP little man..........while I was at work Stephen must have had Peppa out and he flew into the washing up water......Stephen kept him with him until he thought he was dry, but Caillean went to get him out of his cage..........and he bought out a dead Peppa. He is heart broken and Stephen is pretty upset too as he is blaming himself for not checking Peppa was actually dry properly. Just another reason why wing clipping can be important sometimes.

Yes Peppa was a lovely little male budgie. RIP little man. Yes we watch our birds too. But Peppa had flown into the sink from Stephens shoulder I know Peppa would not have been in the sink long probably only a few seconds, but obviously enough time to get very wet and possibly swollow some water. I asked him if he was sneezing, and he said no, he thought he was ok. He would take Peppa out and have him with him quite often. Unfortuneatley these things happen. I have a friend who breeds lots of different smaller types of birds and I know she handraises tiels too. I will ask her in a few weeks if she has any lovely little teil babies and if I could buy one for Caillean. I am sure that will bring a smile to his face. Or maybe later on in the year if I have any alex babies.....maybe I will raise one for him and he can help me and bond with it from a very early age. We will see.

He was very very upset as he actually brought him out to us and said "I think something is wrong with Peppa" he did not realise he was dead. Stephen was distraught too as he is blaming himself and he buried him ........... I think he had a cry too.

It is very sad for all conserned when something like this happens, no one is to blame .......it just happens, budgies are usualy very adaptable, they are the only parrot I know that can take of vertical from water it sounds like the poor little pet actually swallowed some water from the sink, I'm very sorry Tracey for all of you lots of love and kisses John

Thanks guys and thanks John. I had a talk to Caillean today ......... after he came out and said "I guess it is a waste of time cleaning Peppa's cage out hey" I asked him if he would like another bird and if he would like another budgie or a cockatiel. He said he would like a cockatiel. So I will ask my friend in Rockhampton (she is the lady that trained me for judges obedience training) and see when she will be handraising baby tiels again.
