Hi, my name is Kirsten and I am the somewhat surprised new owner of a gorgeous Turq parrot. I rescued him from a produce store on Friday and had to take him straight to the vet. Thankfully it looks like he will be OK, but my bank balance is $170 lighter! LOL! Anyway, I have no idea about birds. My local bird vet has been brilliant and provided me with heaps of info but of course, I could always use more.

Hi Kirsten, think of the vitamins that is required to keep your bird healthy. Vegtables, Fruit, Grit as well as Seed helps a balance diet and a fit bird. Don't forget Calcium as a requirement as well. I suppose your vet has most probably already mentioned those. Tonight we have a talker at our club coming from the Parrot Society UK. Aparently he gives an excellent presentation on the requirements of parakeets and parrots. We are hoping for a full house tonight?

Hi and welcome Kirsten. Good luck with your new lil companion. The best way to get info is to just ask questions, there are plenty here who will help.

Hey Kirsty, where abouts are you from??
Congrats on your new little friend and yes fresh fruit and veges are an important must in all birds lives......as well as seed/pellets or whatever that particular breeds food requirements are.
