Oh John, that is sad. Our thoughts are not only with you, but also with the rest of the family. I'm sure your best mate had a wonderful life with you all.

John I know exactly how you feel. I had to put my 13 year male Staffy "Sensei" down ...... 8 years ago now as he could no longer walk and fell down our stairs a few times. The sad part is the day I decided it was time I actually had to carry him to the toilet and to food and water.....he just lied on his bed watching me doing my yard work.....his mind was very very willing and he knew exactly what was going on.......his body just couldn't do it anymore still upsets me now ....... he was my boy. Then 6 months later his mate had to be put down as she had doggy dimentia and she was a danger to herself......she just couldn't cope without Sensei for comfort I know I am going to have to do it again ....... hopefully not for a quite a few more years yet and yes it will break my heart again........so why do we keep having pets for hey? I for one could not live without a pet.......so I know it will happen again and again. Big hugs to you and your family John.

I've been through it too loosing 2 dogs that were 15 years old. They were just like our children to us. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you all for your thoughts everyone, the only upside in the whole thing is we are off tomorrow morning to pick up a new eight weeks old pup, but we sure miss our old mate.

There is nothing like "new life" to heal a broken heart. Memories stay forever though.

My thoughts exactly. We did the same John when it was our Tess's time. We got Bell.

I normally wait a few months for no other reason but just to think about things. But like Peppa only died 2 weeks ago and Caillean really missed him so we got him Snowy.....and he loves him ;D
Show us pics of your puppy when he settles in John. ;D

I'm so sorry to hear this John, it's never an easy thing even though you know it's the right thing to do. Have fun with the new pup.
