Hi everyone heres a link to brooders for birds i'm looking at the top one and was wandering if this would work for birds. All you do is put the baby birds under it and turn it on.http://www.multiquip.com.au/searchdb.php?search_terms=Poultry%20%26%20Animal%20Brooders

Hi Tara, they are poultry brooders and have to be raised off the floor, suspended by a chain, I have used them for poultry and I think they would get far too hot for a couple of small birds, the type your looking at is capable of heating about 2 square metres and 100 or so chicken chicks.
I think Multiquip make brooders more suitable, you could email their sales dept and ask, they are a very good company to deal with.
Cheers Tony

If you attach a simple dimmer switch, like the ones used to dim lights or control fan speed you can dim the light to reduce temperature or increase the light to increase temps, they only cost about $12 from your hardware or electrical stores.

Just a tip if you attach the heat source to the side of brooder and protective wire over the top the bird can move closer or away from the heat to suit! ;D

Hi Tara, Bill from Billspets has an excellent design for a homemade brooder with step by step instructions listed under bird accessories under the heading Building a Brooder. Hope this helps. Cheers Anna
