Hi Everyone.
My name is Robyn and I have had Birds pretty much all my life. Started when a Budgie landed on our garbage bin one xmas eve back in the 1970's. Over the years that turned into an avery built by my father and housed about 13 budgies.
They slowly died off to the point where there were only a couple left so they were brought back inside to a smaller cage. The last one died at age 13.
I'd moved out of home by then and felt incomplete without that little tweet sound, so bought another pair. That turned into 3 when I rescued one they flew across the road in front of my car. I stopped and caught him by grabbing him out of the tree he'd flown into. He was tired and stressed but still managed to bite me all the way home.
Meanwhile a few years later, my sister was having a bbq when a Lorikeet landed on one of her childrens heads. He was caught and was going to be taken to WIRE's when overnight he began to talk. Obviously someone's pet. No one came forward to claim him and so I took him on. That was about 8 years ago now. About 5 years ago my boss had a baby Lorikeet fly into his glass window on his top floor apartment, so again I was called in. He/she survived and is also living under my roof.
Today I have 2 Lorikeets Ralph and Bella, and 3 Budgies, Batman, Opal and Cheeky.
We also have alot of Cockatoo's, Lorikeets and Magpies frequenting our home, hence my name Birdmagnet
Found the forum cause I wanted to ask a question about feather plucking, but it looks like the topic is already covered.
I will try to upload some photos
Regards Robyn
