Hi i can't beleive how much pellets cost there out of my price range thats for sure. Vetafarm south american mix 10kg $92.90 how do you all afford that. I'm spending $34 on 10kgs of seed every 4-5 months. My birds get feed quailty seed it has grey sunflower seeds not black. My guys also get plenty of fresh fruit and veggies everyday corn, beans, snow peas, capsicum, brocclli, carrot, soup mix which has barley, peas and lentils, apple, pear, orange, strawberry, bannana, grapes, mango, plums anything that is safe and at a reasonable cost. I also give them peanusts in the shell, they will also sometimes get weetbix mixed with warm water. THey will also eat mealworms too. I've tryed my guys on pellets once before i found it a waste of money my guys seemed to throw them out of the bowl only ate the veggies and fruit.

I do not feed pellets to my birds. Just seed and fruit and veg as you do Conure. if I was to feed pellets to my birds, It would cost me an arm and a leg!

You try being a softbill keeper! I was spening upwards of $100 a week on Fruit, veg, pellets, live food, rats, mice, chicks. But I wouldnt of traded it for anything. That is the one thing i am realising having no pets at home at all, i am saving sooooo much money!

I tried feeding pellets to my quakers and green cheeks outside and only ended up feeding the rats and mice that had dinner everynight under their suspended avairy. With Willow and with Elmo I always made sure they had a small feed tub of pellets that they would eat if they wanted, bit more control inside, I pay about $38 for about 2kg of pellets but that lasts me a while

Yep pellets can be a little on the expensive side. I do buy them in 10 kg lots but get at wholesale. At the moment i have Hagen's & vetafarm American. I just have a few in a bowl and sprinkle some on their fruit & veggies. I also sell some off to my friends.
But the most part my birds pretty much get fed what you give your birds conureowner. It works for me. I only keep the pellets as something different to have on hand.

I have tried pellets but I believe in a good fresh fruit and vege diet. Well my ekkies need that anyway and my other birds get it too but the others get plenty of fresh seed too. The ekkies do get seed just not as much.
