We where going really well, everything was looking up and then I think she suffered a stroke. She was fine at 5pm on thursday night and then when I got home at 8.30pm she could not use one side of her body. She could not grip her foot or extend her wing, she also had no eye movement or response all on the one side. I put her in a hospital cage and gave her pain meds and sparks and a bit of food. She perked up a bit and I just prayed for her to make it to 9am when the vet openned however at middnight she started to throw up, i was holding her not sure what to do and she just passed.
She had a vet check on Tuesday and most of the tests we did are rolling in now and nothing shows anything to explain this. The vet has never heard of a bird this young having a stroke but all sign point toward it. The other avairn vet who is down in Melbourne at the moment also agrees with this. So i buried her next to Elmo.
