I'm Karin and I'm living together with my husband , 6 parrots and a labrador. At the moment I take care of two african greys that people didn't want anymore. I work with parrots for a few years now and I still love it. Together with two friends I started a foundation to help parrots. Solving behaviorproblems and fostering parrots of people who don't want them anymore. Finding new homes for them and learn people how to live with parrots. These smart animals decerve to live outside a cage. My parrots(and the dog) are always coming with me. To take a walk, going to the playground, for visits and they even go with me on vacation. Everytime people look at us like wow, there come's a driving Zoo. I don't care what they think of me anymore. The reason why I'm on an australian board? First: I just love your country and all the parrots that you have in the wild. Second: My husband grew up in Tassie and in 4 weeks we will visit again. And Third: I have a galah and the dutchy's doesn't know much about them. This is his story:
10 Months ago my bird-VET asked me to take care of galah. He was selfmutilating and his owners wanted to put him to sleep. My VET wanted to give him a change.
This is how it started, it didn't look to good when he came here. :
And this is today
After 6 months I couldn't rehome him anymore. Thinking about it, brought me to tears. I told my husband, I can't do it. He's so happy, I am so used having him arround. I know six birds is a lot to take with us, going on a holiday or just for a walk, but so what? Let's give him a permanent place to stay. And we did. Ozzie (original, isn't it ) will stay with us forever.
