I have about a dozen budgies. A couple of them came across the country with me when I moved from the east coast, but most of them are newbies who have managed to join the flock in California. They love their veggies and rice and beans....some of the neighbors bring their (human) kids around to teach them that spinach and broccoli are yummyRainbow, the young lady on the left, cannot grasp with her feet. I had her in a cage by herself, since she was getting bullied. When I moved the crew to the aviary I put her in to see how it would work out....well, she found a beau--who won't let anyone mess with her, and has been perfectly happy since then sitting on the ledges and the flat parts of the aviary.

Its great seeing Aussie budgies in the US. You have some beautiful colours. Are Aussie birds expensive to buy in the US?

Budgies and zebras are pretty inexpensive, tiels and ringies can be a bit more. It all depends on the mutations and whether they are parent or hand reared. Since mine are all "used", I usually pay nothing or a rehoming fee to convince them I am not some kind of whacko (well, some dangerous kind of whacko), so I am not really up on the market prices.
