currently feeding it, live fish, chicken and mince with wombaroo insectivore mix, cut up lettuce spinach, Is it a bit like a chicken or fowl but with more water and aquatic food requirements? Hopefully it will take pellets as well as live and green food

Hi rainbowrunner,
Wouldn't it be in the best interest for the bird to be released into the care of a wildlife career. I would imagine its illegal for just anyone to care for wildlife without a licence or much knowledge of what they really need. I wouldn't try pellets unless advised by a Wildlife Rescue Officer or Vet.
Robyn.

Swamphens can be fed on a diet of budgie seed, chopped whitebait, fish flavoured catfood and spinach/wombok all put in the food processor and fed in water.
