Didn't think i would ever be back here, but i have to fess up. Arriving from south today I have a nice little Pineapple Green Cheek cock to go with the little Pineapple hen i will soon be getting & all this started because i was on the hunt for a yellowsided/cinnamon cock for the little cinnamon hen i kept back from my breeding pair. I will now have 3 pair of Green Cheeks. I must have rocks in my head. Bloody Green Cheeks. But they are cute hey. Robyn.

You naughty girl Robyn! You should be punished! Now does that feel better that I have said all that to you. I love the antics of the green cheeks, you don't need to own a TV set when you own green cheeks. They are so entertaining.

Well i wasn't really looking for one it just happened my friend Sandy's male quaker got out & didn't come back she mentioned she wanted to find the little girl a new home so i put my hand up. I thought she would be a friend for Minty even though he is still a virgin.

Hey ..... this might be way out there.....but I know of a Sandy in Cairns (yes there probably about 150 or more of them) and she has one male ekkie as a pet (or did have) ...... she comes from Sydney originally (I think it was there).
So I am guessing he wont be "pure" for too long then hey. lol

Thanks guys. And Laraine i do so wish you have success with your birds, it seems so unfair things aren't happening for you. Maybe 2010 is your year. That was where i was 2 years ago with my Eclectus & then it all started to happen.

No the Quaker isn't a pet at all but she talks & if she keeps up that god awful squawk her day's are numbered here. I haven't put her in the aviary with Minty yet has been far to wet up here.
As far as the pineapples go, bit disappointed in the male. Not at all what i expected. Thought it would have been more colourful & its a bit on the small size. Hoping when i get the hen, she has a bit of size on her. I would not have bought it had i viewed it in the flesh.

Is he a young bird, maybe he hasn't yet got all his colours. I'm going to separate all the birds I want to breed next season, maybe that might work. Will probably have to put all the others in the same cage which will be interesting. I don't breed the budgies until the parrot season has finished as they will breed anytime whereas the parrots have a limited winow. I don't know if I will breed the tiels next season. My budgies have started laying now so that will be interesting.

Yep, he is last seasons young & by the looks of him this morning he has heaps of pins so no wonder he looks o bit on the scruffy side. A pic of him. I am not 100% sure but i think the next pic is of the little hen that will be sent up soon. She is lovely. And the yellowsided boy for my cinnamon hen. Well one of them I am probably being to picky. And Laraine that's a good idea to separate them all. You should have a great breeding season next time around.

OOOOHHHH AAAAAAHHH Robyn, a blue quaker! I won't tell Tracey! (PSST! Just quietly though, I think she may already know) You Green cheeks are real cuties. I had mine all in together, I had one male that serviced two females, and the girls shared one nest between them. They were both in there sitting on four eggs each. Nothing hatched, but they were only last years birds, so I wasn't too concerned. I have now separated them, sold one pair and kept one pair. I didn't want to sell them, but Mick has decided that we are going out of some of the bigger parrots and concentrating more on the neophemas.

OK everyone the little male pineapple i got is getting his new feathers & even tho he hasn't completely gone through his moult he is looking rather stunning. So we are getting very excited waiting for his new wife to arrive. I think these 2 will make beautiful pineapple babies.
