Today I got a green quaker. He (or it could be a she) is a rescue. Owner bought for a child quaker bit child, child no longer like so lets leave him outside till he screams so much he gets moved to garage and then enter AV. poor little fellow has never seen a toy i don't think, was so hungry that he ate a FULL tub of seed mix and some veggie (which are strange things according to him). he is a normal green quaker and at present the evil bitey flighty things is handing out on my shoulder preening himself and my hair. he steps up and down and he might nibble but not bite. He gives kisses and is going through a HORRIBLE molt but other then that seems ok. He does have really really dark black poop so we are going to the vet tomorrow evening just to be on the safe side but either way he is one really nice bird. whoever the bought him off did a bang up job of HRing him as I am pretty sure he has gotten little to no attention since then. Don't have the right cable for my camera but will post tomorrow at work. I am not keeping him name as it involced the words head and a word that starts with S and ends in hit! So i was thinking Lorne like Lorne from Angel the TV show. Or Oscar, or Gremlin or maybe something else. Will keep you updated in what happens with this little one.

No clue if I will make him part of my zoo or not, will see how we go. Part of me would like to keep him the other part sort of does not want to as I want to get a king. Here is a picture of this little man, he is going through a molt and last night he ate all this seed in a few hours so today I am spacing his meals out, he is also a little food agressive

he is, I got him out to spend time with him before going to work and he was on the bench and on my shoulder and back again. He wanted to know what I was eating, wanted to get into the jam jar, worked out how to get into the butter pot and then decided that butter was yucky and wiped it all over my work top so I had to get changed!

went home for lunch to check on him and he can straight out of his cage and was on my shoulder trying to do some filing and he kept popping up in front my my face as if to say "hello remember me, pay attention to me!" a head scratch and some rasberries (which I only convinced him at breaky time wherenot evil quaker eating items) and he was happy untill the next time he decided I was not paying him enough attention. I get where they said he was biting, he gets bored and then starts to get a bit nippy as he wants to interact, my me on the lip but a no and back in the cage for a 5 min time out and now I know if he is out he needs to be entertained. Also note to self do not feed bird on shoulder rasberries when wearing a white shirt! Ended up getting changed again!

sounds like he is a cheeky little thing. It is a shame when people buy birds (any animal actually) for their kids and then the kids get a bite...even from a small beak ........ and that is it the kid is scared and loses interest.

I agree more reasech needs to go into the type of bird that you get (preaching to the choir on this board I know) jumping into larger birds without knowledge is not a great idea and also these birds are not the best kids pets.

well back from the vet and he made some friends! Vet nurse loved him and he was happy to go to whoever wanted a hold and a listen to his purr! He can fly we could out but has no real control and has a habbit of just stopping mid flight and dropping like a rock! Got all his testing done, nothing major cam up waiting for the blood work to come back vet is a little concerned but not really it's just that he seems a little small and a little underweight and struggling with this molt and his beak so a little off colour so we decided to do blood work but we are hoping that with the corrrect diet he will come back ok. At present he is preening himself on my shoulder and growling at the rabbits as they run around in their pen.
