Well, I found some budgies! A guy who bred them doesn't have time to do it any more, so he's selling all his birds. They are still young, and proven breeders. Soooooo.....my girls have decided that they would like to breed them! We have 2 pairs now, so I figure why not. LOL Also came home with an extra one.....got in trouble with hubby for it, too! This poor little girl can't fly properly, because her flight feathers grow twisted on one wing. Other than that, she is perfectly healthy. She is really pretty, and the guy didn't know what he was going to do with her, because not many people would be interested. We are keeping her in a small cage, because she can't be an aviary bird, or even go in the big flight cage with the others. She has a really quiet nature, so I'll work with her and hand tame her. It's not going to be difficult - we've already got her to step up onto a finger. I just couldn't leave her there! I even ran to the ATM to get more money out! LOL My girls still want to get Tiels, too! And I promised them! Someone keep me away from animals! LMAO I'll try to get some photos of them all - it's been raining here, so not good for taking pics! Well well well haven't you been a naughty girl then ;D Just with the budgie with the "wonky" wing. I might be tempted to take her to the vet just to rule out anything like PBFD. I can't see the bird so can't actually even guess......but it is the first thing that came to my suspicious mind.
Apart from that ......... you have been a naughty girl then hey ;D ;D ;D
Oh and do you live in Qld........we have had so much rain I actually took a pic of the sun shining this afternoon to remind me of what it looks like. ;D No seriously I did take the pic ;D

Yes, I have been a naughty girl! LOL ;D I am going to take the little girl with the funny wing to the vet, absolutely. She is currently in quarantine. Her overall condition is fantastic - it's just this one wing where 2 or 3 primaries are off. The guy had her in with every other bird, so I doubt PBFD, but you never know! God, I'm a sucker! LMAO ;D You know, I think that everyone who buys a bird should get a warning with it - 'THIS IS AN ADDICTIVE HOBBY. BEWARE! YOU CAN'T STOP AT ONE OR TWO!' ;D I'm in Coffs Harbour ;D Yes, the place that flooded 6 times last year! SOOOOOOO over rain! We actually had the driest Jan for a very long time, but as soon as it clicked into Feb, the rain came back! ARGH!

Oops! Forgot to add that all of my birds are going through a molt right now (including the new budgies). Sandy (my little girl in quarantine) is growing normal feathers back, so perhaps she will grow proper flights on the wing once she molts out the current ones. Still taking her to the vet for a check-up! Either way it goes, I'm going to give her a good life here

sounds positive as I think when they moult is usually when the "deformed" feathers come out......glad you got her. ;D

I'm really glad I got her, too. Sandy is such a sweet bird. I suspect she has suffered from nutritional deficiencies when young, though - I've been watching her all day (couldn't work, cause it rained!) and she behaves very oddly compared to any other budgies I've ever seen. It's really hard to describe - it's almost like she's a little 'simple'. That's a horrible way to say it, I know, but it's the best way I can think of! She is special. She's in breeding condition, and she's trying to nest in her food dish, so I'm going to get her a little hut. The guy I got her from hadn't had any luck actually breeding her, for whatever reason. I'm not going to try to breed her, even though she IS beautiful. I'll take her to the vet and see what happens. It is possible that she has a very mild form of PBFD or FM, and if that is the case, I'll keep her happy and as healthy as I can for however long she is with us. Taking precautions, of course! Good thing I live in a big house! LOL

I love budgies, I've never seen one I haven't liked yet. And that includes banged up, messy feathers and even a bald one. They are just a sweet little birdy.

I have a budgie that I bred a couple of years ago that only has one wing. The bones on the second one just didn't develop for some reason.
