YAY! Sandy is all clear. Tested her for everything under the sun, and all neg. So it would appear our suspicions seem likely - nutritional deficiency when young. She probably didn't get fed properly in the nest. It's all good, though! She's a sweet girl, and NEVER bites. And she is starting to have a go at vegies and crumbles, as well as her seed. She may or may not molt out the twisted feathers - time will tell. She's happy and healthy, though, which is all that matters! ;D

I would suggest you get a product called Budgie Starter made by Passwell , it is a dry mix and you sprinkle it over the birds food, failing that egg & biscuit is a substitute however the budgie starter is the best, you can also put about a teaspoon per bird in the feed dish every day and let them snack on it. Cool. Thanks John! I'll get some of the budgie starter - Sandy doesn't seem to mind trying new things, unlike most other budgies I've ever had! I think all the birds were brought up on seed alone, which seems to be a common practice with budgies! It seems that people make sure the bigger parrots get everything they need, but lose the plot when it comes to the little pocket dynamites.

Carls That's true Carls, the little fellows deserve to be spoiled as much as their big cousins, I have just come home from getting some supplies for my budgies and was plesantly surprised at how little it all cost the 5kg of budgie starter was only $13 and I got some canery seed ( not canerie mix ) to add to their budgie mix, 5kg of that was only $12 so all in all I am quite pleased, I will do a 50/50 mix with the seed and see how they take to it.
