Hi Anna, I've heard this term used 2 ways from breeders The most common meaning is to clear out all the older breeding birds and replace them with younger breeders, most of the older birds end up in pet and bird shops. The other meaning is to worm all the breeding birds before commencing breeding. Hope this helps explain....Cheers Tony

I also drop the the fruit and vegetables and sprouted seed down a little. Some breeders stop it completely, I just cant do that to my birds. Them about a month before breeding starts they start giving them heaps of food so the birds think there is heaps of food to feed their babies and they start laying.

Thanks Tony & Petiel, I think the answer I was looking for is from petiel. I have heard it mentioned it is a bit like a detox for birds. Cleans out their systems & then proceed to hit them with all the goodies again. Many thanks, Anna
