Had nothing to do today so I went to my favorite bird place to check out what was around cos I had not been for a while. They had some lovely ekkies in their large enclosure and while we were watching one of them flew toward us at full speed and slamed into the wire and then flew off. Are they usually that aggresive or did it just not like me talking to the others. I was also a bit worried because we saw alot of birds with what I presume is feather desease, some of the smaller parrots looked in bad nick and the No.28 parrots looked rugged as well. Would this be due to moulting or a lack of water to wash in or can it transfer from cage to cage easily. Either way things did not look as good as in previous visits which is a real shame. Nearly came home with a Crimson wing parrot? Don't know about them but one had stunning green and red colouring, nice bird to look at but had to leave it their, shame!

It is hard to say what is wrong with their feathers without actually seeing them but I would be guessing it could be a heavy moult. My aviary male ekkie has just come through a really big moult and he looked extremely ugly for a few weeks......so ugly if anyone wanted to look at them I probably would have hesitated (I don't get too many visitors anyway so it wasn't much of an issue lol) but I can see his pins coming through now.....so he should look his beautiful self soon.
Ekkies are not normally THAT aggressive (if it was aggression)......when mature and nesting the females especially can be quite aggressive.....but not always. My hen can be aggressive if the mood suits her.
