The love birds have gone breeding happy, I had 8 eggs in one box, 5 hatched, 5 in a second box all 5 hatched, they are all showing signs of pied coulering and one in particular is very yellow.
I put this down to a change in my feeding regime for the birds, I have changed the seed I feed them and the soft food they get, I have added different grains to their seed and they now get a protein supplement every day, all in all it seems to be working the only down side is I am running out of room to house all the love birds.

My peachfaces are like that, they like to try every one. Since I took all the breeding boxes out they have gone back to their original nest in the seed catcher.

Good on you John, which supplement do you use? Laraine with the Love Birds it is more changing the seed mix a bit, what I have done is I have bought Canary grass seed, White French Millet, Pancium and Hulled oats I have mixed them by weight and added a small amount of Sunflower seed, they seem to love it I am also giving them Budgie starter, a couple of teaspoons per aviary. With the Budgies I mix Budgie starter with warm water to a biscuit like consistency and give them one teaspoon full per bird I have also added more Canary grass seed to a standard budgie mix, I mix it 50/50 and give it to them when required. Well it has all started at my house 1st off I caught up all the birds gutted the aviary of all perchs and everything put all new ones in and no leaves not even palms I have 5 pairs in the aviary and 4 boxes(1 pair to young) so i seperated the boxes 2 at one end of the shelf 2 at the other. Me being a memeber of ALBS (australian lovebird society) i recieve a magazine from them every 2 months and this months magazine had a article on the lovebird nestiong boxes and found out that not many people know what a lovebird box is (the double) and that they use other boxes. so i am still usingh the double boxes but i read in the article that peachies are poor nestbuilders so i took the advice and did what the article told me to do which is remove all the leaves and everything that the birds need to nest with from the avairy, cut up some some cocus palm leaves and line the box with them ontop of the wood shavings. this way the birds will make there nests and being peachfaces they do not make nests well becasue they steal madagascan weaver nests in the wild 2nd i made john seed mix (White french Millet, Panicum, Hulled Oats and Canary seed) i gave it to the pairs today and it is a MAJOR hit they love it and then what do i see when i walk back out the the aviary the olive pair mating and the olive cock and Aus cinnamon hen mating and a pair of green pieds in the nest box the article is on my website check it out kurrajongaviarys.webs.com/breedinglovebirds.html (thats the direct link to the article) FINAALLLYYYY IT IS WORKING THANKS JOHN
