HI every body. Do you remember my pied 'tiel? that one that I didn't know if male or female. Ok so I buied a female likely him. Inmedietely they began to work and in a few days there were 5 eggs. Only hatched one. Since here every is OK but little one 10 days birthday and I think parents thought squander time only grow a baby so they feed them, but almost don't get in nets and here is the weather a little cold they only get in at night, but early ther get aout and when I go to see little one he is very cold, so I get him inside hose, warm and feed he. Today he exactly is 14 days old, two days ago I saw parents matting so its sure in a few days I'll have to completely feed he. Each day I find he most cold (althought I go to see he earliest). Today I get in my house parents cage hopping in a warm enviromental little one doesn't get so cold but I thing it isn't very useful. Also I thing parents are under feeding him. I'm afarid haven't enought time to feed him apropiately. Attachments:

Luisa I would be feeding him. He needs to be kept warm and he needs to be fed at least 3 times a day. At his age I would be feeding him 4 times a day ......... cockatiels are very very easy to feed.
Just make sure you get a GOOD brand of handraising formula. I don't know what brands you can get over there.......but make sure it is a good brand. Here I like to use Roudybush and Kaytee Exact. Do not use egg and biscuit on him as it has nothing in it and he wont grow to his best.
I am not sure what your weather is like over there but having him inside in a nice plastic box with some nesting material in the bottom or even and old towel on the bottom with a fluffy toy to keep him snuggly and maybe even a warm hot water bottle (if you don't have a brooder which I assume you don't). Once he has feathers which should be by about 3 or 4 weeks then he should be able to keep himself warm.........but I still put a snuggly little toy in with them so they can generate their own heat and still keep warm against the toy.
I can see the pic of the mum but can't see the pic of the dad.

Tracey pretty well summed it up. I think your biggest hurdle will be to keep the baby warm. Before I ever got a brooder box, we used to use an electric blanket to keep birds warm, and that always worked. Keep us informed

That sounds good luisa. You should be able to guage how much he can eat (and cockatiels will eat until they explode lol ;D ) and then feed him enough to last him 4 hourly for a little while then try to stretch it to 5 hourly etc etc. That is how I do it anyway until I can get into a good routine with the bub........might not be how others do it.

On saturday it was 3 weeks old and I began to feed him 3 times a day. Also I'm going to look how many food they eat at this eage because he is eating so much.

cockatiels will eat as much as you feed them.........they just don't know when to stop. I would keep him on 4 feeds a day for another week......but that is just me.........then drop him to 3 feeds. He should be weaned by around 6-8 weeks. Mine usually are around 8 weeks (although I had one who refused to stop feeding his last night feed for what seemed like 6 months lol ........ I was obviously too soft back then ;D )
Just check his crop and if it feels full and not too hard.........he is full. I have seen a picture of baby tiel that was so full his crop looked like it was bulging above his crop o both sides of his neck........that is far too full.

Here an other suggestion, I'm closer from this one.

I pasted the text into babelfish and this is what came back in English - I'm not sure i'm any wiser although it may be clearer to those of you in the know Karen I IMPLEMENT (IT WILL EAT…) DAY OF LIFE 1 or 2 cc every 2 hours. Trying about which every time comma but 1 to 4-5 2 or 3 cc every three hours little by little to make papilla 5 to 8 4 - 6 cc less liquid every 5 hours. 8 to 15 10 cc 4 times to day 15 to 20-22 15 cc three times to the day. 22 to 30 To be reducing the takings and to provide solid food 30 more or

he might like to try some soft warmed up frozen veges.....they love corn and peas and they soft for them to chew and brightly coloured to attract their attention. If he likes that then maybe add some millet sprays for him to play with also. How old is he now Luisa? Around 4 or 5 weeks now??

Wow, he is growing into a good looking cockatiel. You are doing a great job! My cockatiels love rolled oats, maybe give that a try as well?
