I have a 8 month old handraised Rainbow Lorrie. He is a wonderful but spoilt bird. Our problem is, he chases and attacks our other 5 week old lorrie we are handraising. Scooby (rainbow) is a loving little fellow but a few months back we inherited a scaley lorrie (Charlie) and charlie use to always chase and attack Scooby and Scooby hated it, but now Scooby is doing it to our new baby lorrie Scrapy. At first they got on well but then all of a sudden Scooby changed. Now Scooby will chase Scrapy and when I put them both in the big cage outside together for about an hour each afternoon Scooby attacks him. I have tried taking Scooby's afternoon fav treats (sultanas) from him & taking Srapy out of the cage when he does this so he goes without his treats but then the next day he is cunning. I do the usual and put Scrapy in with Scooby for an hour and put in Scooby's treats but he eats the treats while watching Srapy the whole time, you just know what he is planning as you can see it in his eyes. Scooby eats all his treats first then attacks Scrapy! I guess he figures that if he does this I can't take anything away from him that he loves. How else can I teach Scooby this is not acceptable behaviour and get him out of the habit?
As for Scrapy I know he shouldn't be in a cage just yet as he doesn't have his feathers and is still only young but he wont stay in a box or anything else for that matter and hasn't done since he was about 2 weeks old. He is a very active little fellow. Also he is very independent as he wont eat from anything but his feed dish. He has never liked being spoon fed and has always prefered to just eat straight from his bowl like a grown up!#
My main concern is getting Scooby out of the habit of chasing and attacking Scrapy can anyone help please?
