We had a Neem Tree growing in our garden & it was getting tall so Hubby chopped it down. I wanted to know if it was good to use as a perch for the birds so i Googled it. Goodness me its good for every thing. Even insect repellent.
Its a safe plant except for bugs that chew its leaves. Has anyone else used it for a perch for your parrots.

Being the non plant expert, I have absolutely no idea what a neem tree is? I googled it, I can't say that I have ever seen one before.

I have one. I bought it about 14 years ago when I first heard of neem oil. My mum went through a phase of trying it (I think she used to eat it and drink it???). Anyway the tree got too big for the pot so I planted it. It is a lovely looking tree now.......8 years later (since planting it).
I would also be interested to know if it is safe for our birds to chew on.

This is a matter of deep interest for me The neem trees here in Oman are fruiting now. I tried it myself to be rather sweet. Riamfada liked it as can be seen in photo. The neem tree is behind her. I limited her to one fruit so far 3-4 days ago. She has not keeled over as yet, but even so I am worried. Especially as neem tree products are insect repellent, good for skin diseases etc etc. It is the knowing that neem leaves are cooked and eaten in India that I took a fruit myself before allowing Riam to try one. Is the neem fruit safe for birds? Warmest regards Shanlung 山 龍 www.geocities.com/shanlung9
