I know I haven't been a regular around here but, this is one place where I believe my "pain" will be understood.
The cockatiel I "inherited" from my sons primary school teacher has passed away suddenly.
She was preening herself on her cage the last time I saw her alive.
I sat down at my computer which is just around the corner from the cage.
About 5 mins later I heard a couple of "thumps" and I looked around to see her dead on the floor. No cheeps, no squawks just the "thumps".
I don't really know how old she was my best guess is that she was a minimum of 8 years old.
We fell in love with each other from the first time I looked after her during one of my sons school holidays all those years ago. I looked after her many times after that.
For the last 2.5 years she has been my bird. Devoted to me alone (much to the chagrin of my wife and sons and despite my best efforts to socialize her to them)
She's gone now. I am already missing her because I loved that little feather head.
