I have been getting lots of enquiries the last couple of weeks for handraised budgies. Unfortunately I don't get time. If anyone knows of breeders in the Sydney area, let me know and I will send them on.

I thought a couple of the babies were girls. I'll redirect enquiries for hand raised babies to you. I'm not sure how much they cost.

John, I have given your email address to a couple of people wanting hand raised budgies. I am suddenly getting lots of enquiries for baby budgies and mine have only just started to lay eggs.

I have at the moment at least 10 babies, one of the mothers is one of the birds I bought off you Laraine she has 5 young at the moment, I am saying at least 10 but there are more as couple of the birds I cant see how many they have, I am tipping an early spring andf an early breeding season.

Would you like me to direct my enquiries for non handraised baby budgies to you? It will be a couple of months before I have any available.

I still have a way to go yet before the babies are ready to go Laraine so I might leave it for a couple of more weeks yet, although I do have four just about ready to fledge, 1 spangle blue, 1 yellowface blue and two violate so they are almost ready.
I also have one box with four babies and they are all Lutino, they all have their eyes open now and they are all red eyed with Yellow feathers, the hen is a green/yellow bird don't know what the father is yet.
Thanks for the offer Laraine I reckon in about three or four weeks I will have heaps of babies ready to go.

Ok John, just let me know when you are ready. Thanks Laraine, I have been keeping a very close check on this lot of babies as I have lost a few over the last couple of months I am not sure if it is because my budgies are relatively new to breeding, this is the first time for a lot of them, or it is something else. My budgies had their first lot of chicks a few months ago. They recently hatched another lot.
My female budgie kicked one of the chicks out of the nest 2 times. I put him back in the nest, but today I noticed that the female wasn't feeding the chick.
I decided that putting the bird down was NOT an option for me. So after spending hours reading through my books and researching on the internet, I decided that I would try and hand rear the youngster.
He has got his pin feathers on hime and is going really well! I purchased some passwell hand rearing mix from the pet store. I heated it to the temperature it said to and made sure it wasn't to hot (so he dosen't get a crop burn). He was really keen to eat the mixture and did so very fast. I am keeping him in a small cardbord box with shreded new paper on the bottom. He seems to be very active. I have blankets over the top (with an air hole) so he dosen't get to cold.
Fingers crossed he survises.

Sad news.
He died about 2 weeks ago. I don't know what happened. I was sticking to the routine. The night before he was happy, fine, nothing wrong with him. The next morning I found him dead.
It has put me off hand rearing for a while.
