Hi all,
I have made up for previous mistakes I have made in the past. I should have never sold my pair of gang gangs and major mitchells. Ive lived and learned and now they will both make a home again in my aviaries.
I replaced the majors firstly a couple of months back, but the gang gangs were much harder to find. I finally tracked them down and will be on my way down to Sydney tomorrow to pick up a breeding pair. I have regretted the decision to sell them and kicked myself since.
I will post up some photos in the next week or two.

It would have been heartbreaking to part with them in the first place - that is for sure! I know how hard it has been for me with all my birds. It must be nice to have them again! Majors are a stunning bird, and I have only met a few gangs - and loved everyone of them.
How's the avairy building going? Did you get your cementing done?

lucky you Shaun. When I saw Adrian Gallaghers gang gang at Parrots 2010 ........ and held him and patted him, I fell in love. They are a beautiful little bird.

Ellen, I got the concreting done for another two banks of aviaries. The first has three large aviaries for 'big' birds 2m wide x 4.8m long, and the other bank is ten aviaries for smaller parrots 1m wide x 3m long. Looking forward to getting back into building them.
I saw a tame male cockbird for sale on petlink Tracey and thought of you! I am sure alot of work would go into keeping them occupied. I have followed your postings but have been a bit 'quiet' of late.
The gangs are home after a leaving early in the morning and getting home just now. They are in a holding cage in the garage until morning where I will put them in their flight. Hopefully they settle before breeding season. I have missed them and their unique noises!

You have been a busy boy! I'm sure you will get it all done, it always seems to take more time than you want it to. And just think of all the beautiful birds you are going to get to fill them with.
I get very impatient when we are either building aviaries or changing aviaries. We have now "gutted" the parrot aviary, it looks awful sitting their empty.

I have noticed on Petlink that you have been selling birds Ellen, what have you kept? I only have 19 parrots left in the aviaries, (plus 4 parrots in the house), 6 neophemas, 5 canaries and a lot of finches. My alex's left today, it was so sad to see them go.

I'm sure it is heartbreaking seeing them go. Are you downsizing?

I have Ellen They are a beautiful bird. They are out in their flight and settling in well. Not as flighty as my old pair. That would be so hard to downsize Ellen. Are you selling your business? I have just found a cotoneaster tree in someones front yard and I am trying to find information on how to grow them as the gang gangs eat the berries and strip the leaves and stem. I am trying to find out if they will grow from a cutting instead of the seeds. it is hard though as they are considered a weed now. www.weedsbluemountains.org.au/cotoneaster.aspDoes anybody know anything about them or Hawthorn trees? Thanks Shaun

I've got 2 Cotoneaster trees which I have just cut right back (to ground level, but they are shooting again already) I didn't know birds loved them. They also like the berries of the Lillipilli.
What types of "big" and "smaller" parrots are you looking to put into your aviaries.
Ellen
If you have to move, where are you relocating to?

It is extremely hard, I had to do it five years ago when we moved here and now I am going through it all again. They are doing a dam upgrade and there is talk that we may have to move out of this house that we are in because they will be blasting not too far away from the house. Not moving too far away, about 3-4 kms away into another house. It really is just more of a pain in the backside more than anything. There is no room to have all my aviaries at the other place and also it is just too much work to relocate all the aviaries. But most of all it is devistating to have to sell of my birds again.

So you will be able to relocate some of the avairys and some of the birds? And sell off other birds while leaving some of the avairys behind? One of the reasons I hate moving. Haven't had to do so for ages. Now all I want is to turn the unused (unless you count the junk storage) pergola into another avairy. More finches for me. LML
