hi, I have owned m 2 java sparrows for about 3 months, they are beautiful birds and I have fallen in love with the males song and the hens clicks of affection. They have recently had 8 eggs! so I am reading up as much as I can on eggs and their breed. So far I am delighted that I have been feeding them correctly although maybe they're spoilt cos they get fresh seed and water twice a day, and they love watermelon. I am nervous about the eggs and if the are infertile or not, I have checked them with a light and all of them have red vains, but I really have no idea, I think it might be a little early its been 4 days since all 8 eggs were layed and she layed an egg every day. I am surprised my birds have mated considering how hard it is to get them ready for breeding conditn (or so i have read), but my birds are just spoilt and happy i guess. I hope I get at least 3 babies but 8 would be exciting. Thank you for letting me chat about this i'm a little nervous. ;D

wow your birds must be very happy living with you lol.
Welcome to this place. Dont play with the eggs too much. I know it is hard to do though but it is easy to drop them........I have done that with my canaries. I usually try to have a look at them about mid way through the incubation period and then again towards the end. I have been lucky enough to actually hear them pipping just before they hatch ....... but I am talking about my eclectus now and their eggs are bigger than the finches and canaries.
