I am very new to breeding and this is my two birds first eggs (with me I have no idea how old they are or if they have had eggs before). I am excited and hoping every thing goes well. She laid an egg everyday and today is the 4-5th day she has been sitting on them. Any info you can give me would be great thanks!

Hi Sweety Baby, Nice result with yoiur Java's. Eight eggs are not unusual in a nest. I have had a pair of Normal mutation Java's with nine chicks before! All healthy and all done well. Plenty of eggfood for the chicks will do them proud. Provide grit for the parents it helps them digest food and even break upo seed ready to past on to the youngsters. They are a good couple of weeks in the nestbox before they come out and then they are another three weeks before the parents stop feeding them and want to go back to nest and breed more! Have fun, Steve.
