Lord help me. AJ has become a terror bird! She is biting me like no tomorrow - which I am sure I have everything to do with. Problem is, I can't remember a particular incident which would have set this behaviour off. Argh! The bugger wants to be with me, and she wants me to scratch her, play with her etc etc as normal, but she bites me without mercy! She doesn't bite to step up, or when I get her out of her cage. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. What am I missing? She's only a year old, and OK, she's started to moult pretty heavily now. Would all the wild galahs in the yard have anything to do with it? Or the chooks, who like to let themselves in the house? lol I haven't been in the best frame of mind this last few months - stress galore, so that doesn't help I'm sure. I love her to bits, but lord, I'm having a hard time liking her right now! I need to take her to the vet for her annual check-up, but I don't want to do it until she gets past this mood. I'm afraid of making things worse!

is there a particular time she is biting you?? Like "when you scratch her" or "when you do 'something' with her?"" It would help if you could try to narrow it down to "something" that is happening immediately before she bites???

Well, you really got me thinking, Tracey. And observing! For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what was different - until this morning. AJ was sweet as pie when I took her out to do our morning rounds of the animals, and everything was going great - until I coughed. Then she ran up my arm and attacked me! EEK! As it turns out, I've had this cough for 2-3 weeks now. Same time that AJ has been going nutty. SO OBVIOUS! ARGH! I can even be in another room coughing, and she will go crazy. It's one of those really dry, barking coughs - my dear daughters decided to share it with me. I was getting so frustrated, not being able to find what was setting her off. Now the frustration comes with trying to work around it. The cough is almost gone - mainly comes out in the morning and evening now - but those are the times when AJ is with me the most. Again, THANKYOU for getting me thinking, Tracey! Really helps having someone on the outside to help gain perspective.
