I have a baby Currawong who has been hanging around my garden for the last 2 days. It has come out of a nest, there is one in my gum tree. This morning it was at my front steps looking sad so I decided I'd ring Wires, so got a milk crate to trap it, but it started running (must have looked a sight with me chasing it with my crate), then one of the parents appeared so I backed off, I was also afraid it might run onto the road as it was heading that way.
Anyway it is now sitting in my garden, I hope it survives.

It will probably be ok Laraine if the parents are looking after it. I had a baby crow fall out of the nest earlier this year I think about the time it was fledging. I heard a terrible commotion in my chook pen to find it being attacked by my chooks......so I grabbed it and put it on the easement near our trailer and the parents still looked after it and I think it was flying sort of within a couple of days.

The baby Currawong is still sitting in my garden this morning. Last night I had to shoo away 2 of the neighbourhood cats that visit every night. I don't think they saw him, he is very quiet and the parents were in the tree watching over him. My main worry is the cats.

He was still sitting in my garden this morning, I'm tossing up whether to ring wires. He's a cute little guy (for a Currawong).

The baby is still OK, this morning I looked for him in his usual spot but he wasn't there, I could hear him tweeting from about a metre above the ground. I think he was in my Camillia as when I tried to look in the mother swooped me.

That is good that he is getting off the ground and that the parents are still keeping watch over him.
