I am guessing you have not handraised before?? How old is the little one going to be when you get it?? You will need to ask the breeder how often they have been feeding it, how much they feed per feed, what formula they are using etc etc.
We will be able to help a bit more if we know a bit more about the bird you are getting.......like how old it will be??
As for a lutino losing it's red eyes.......no........they keep their red eyes

See the article at www.mooloolabapets.com.au/html/hand_rearing_baby_birds.html for good information on hand rearing. Let us know more details and we can provide more information. If you have never hand reared a bird before be aware that there is a lot that can go wrong, and that hand rearing a bird yourself is not necessary to get the baby to bond with you. If a ringneck baby is properly hand raised then it will happily bond with a new owner after it has been weaned. Having said that ringnecks are one of the easiest birds to hand rear but make sure you start out using the same formula that the breeder is using, and that you get a good hands-on demonstration from the breeder. . If you are getting it straight out of the nest then I would recommend finding a more ethical breeder. Breeders who sell straight from the nest to inexperienced rearers are more interested in the money than in the welfare of the birds. cheers, Mike

Why are you taking the bird at that age?? That is an awkward age to take a baby for handraising....they are weaning and the change can upset them. It would only be a couple more weeks and it would be fully weaned ........
Anyway ...... you will need to concentrate on weaning the baby first. One of the first "tricks" you could be teaching it is to "step up".....that is a very important first lesson in my opinion.

With IRN's you do need to handle them all the time....if you don't they can become bitey. That doesn't mean handle them 24/7 ...... just make sure you handle him daily and give him plenty of training and playing time with you.
