Ok this one was found 1/2 drowned in filthy recycled water in a park at narromine , its very thin under all that fluff and is holding its mouth open for some reason . Have started rehydrating with spark and it seems more active , waiting to see if it eats now so warm and dark is the therapy for now . Am confused though as to what type of corella it is , not sure if its a long beak or a little ..any ideas .

looks like a "little corella" or "short billed corella" in the "research" I have done in the past couple of days (makes me an "expert now guys" ;D .... joking of course) it doesn't seem to have the colour or the loooooong beak of the long billed corella. But then I could be wrong???

Nope I agree totally , the beak is broader and not as long as the long bills . Dont worry Ill be an instant expert too by the end of the day lol ...someone that has been breeding them for 100 years will come along and burst my bubble but thats OK I need it .

Looks like you girls are right. I thought a little corella. Although Debbie do you think a trip to the Vet. He might need some antibiotics if he is in poor condition. Most Vets will treat wildlife at no cost to you. Seems there is a few of these birds in trouble lately.

Update ..he is nibbling at greens and poking around in the seed and of course mushing up the old faithful milk arrowroot biscuit . He looks a lot better just from rehydrating I think anyhow as soon as he is fighting fit Ill give him a bath and get the rest of this horrible stuff of his lower body which has to make him feel better . Ive got some beans soaking which I hope he will like , the other birds do .

Finally got to give him a bath and found blood filled tail feather stumps .... major alarm bells with his unwillingness to fly ...had to weigh things up and the threat of B + F Disease in my aviaries made for a tough decision ...... Wires now has him in quaranteen until the vet sees him tomorrow sadly I wont see him again but Im sure the people at wires will do what they can or ...you know what else ... so have shed some tears but if I had to have all my birds put down because the little corella had the B + F then it would be even more tragic.

Funny how just before we found him I read on here about the cockatoo that was found and may have had B + F ..... it stayed on my mind and I kept a very strict hygeine and quaranteen regime . Thank you Aussie birds you may have saved my birds .............

I think you did the right thing. I am always worried about PBFD even with the wild flocks hanging around. I do not encourage them into my yard......doesn't mean they don't come in........but they don't normally come around our house area.

Good on you caring for this little one, so glad the vet said it is OK, looks like s/he has found a very nice home.
