It pays to advertise

For all thse who lose a pet.
Earlier this year my other half was out in the backyard watering the garden and I was inside, he came to the back door and shoved our two mini foxies inside. I went out to find a tiel sitting on his shoulder ;D I fetched a budgie cage(which was all we had) and put in water and some seed (lucky we had some) its whole head went in poor little thing it was so hungry and thirsty. We had just had a heat wave over 40 for a number of days.

Over the next couple of days she drove the dogs nuts every time she made a sound the dogs would race into the kitchen and slide into the freezer which the cage was sitting on

I checked the papers for a lost tiel the only one was 30km away and talked etc this bird said and did nothing. Except to whistle to my other half. By the 3rd day I decided to buy a larger cage the budgie cage was just too small.We put the bird in and about half an hour later things started happening, tapping on the wooden perch and talking to the mirror ...(the other cage had plastic perches)
I found the advert in the paper and called, I grilled the poor guy (didn't want to give someones pet to the wrong person) he went through everything his bird did and said, and....I kept asking does it do anything else (finally he said the thing I had been waiting for) and I said we have your bird ;D.. He was very emotional and couldn't believe it had gone so far he was still checking around his area, and he said he thought he would never see it again as it was a very friendly bird.

When he came to pick her up he brought her old cage and in it was a identical mirror that I had in the new cage... what is the chance of that

So to all those people who loose a pet it pays to advertise there are honest people out here.

It made me feel warm and fuzzy all over but I still got a paid out from my partner for grilling the poor guy ;D ;D ;D

I did exactly the same thing when I found a blue female IRN. (Yes blue is my fav colour ..... or one of them....but is was not my bird to keep...........and she was LOUD lol)

Anyway I had all sorts of no hopers ringing up wanting her......one lady couldn't even tell me the colour......she went from green, to yellow to white and male??? Obviously just looking for a free bird.

Eventually about 2 weeks later someone did ring and once again I came out with the 'badge' asking all the questions and making her describe to me her bird.......and she described the bird exactly........ she told me she is blue, big for a hen, that she used to show her and she told me she was handraised but had been in an aviary with a male who also went missing........(I suspected she was originally handraised but kept in an aviary and she was a very big and beautiful looking bird for an IRN and she was missing a toe). I said to the lady.....there is something else about this bird you need to tell me.......it took her a few seconds and she said "oh yes she is missing a toe and I can't show her anymore because of that".......I said "come and get your bird" ;D

oh and at the same time I was given no name who had flown onto someones shoulder in town while I was at work and everyone knew i had birds ..... so they bought her in to me lol

I advertised for her also but only got people wanting a male alexandrine and she is definetly a hen. This girl has a very distinctive whistle that reminds me of an old man walking around his garden with a smoke hanging out of his mouth (why the smoke I don't know but that is what I always imagine when no name makes this whistling tune)...... but everyone who rang up said they were missing a male and no one described her tune. So 2 years later she is still here with us and was Takoda's mate
