My Sun Conure, Sunny, had problems with his breathing over Christmas. I took him to the vet and meds were given, but he lost his fight to live a couple of days later. I have had an autopsy done and so far all results have come back negative for diseases, viruses, infection, parasites etc. All his organs have come back normal also. I am waiting on his brain to be looked at as one of the final tests and should have those results next week some time. As it stands, seems like my bird died healthy.   |

OMG .......... was Sunny very old?? Did you only get him or her a couple of years ago?? I just thought I might have a vague recollection of when you got him. I am very very sorry to hear that.

Thanks everyone.
Trace, Sunny was not old, only 7ish I think. This year was his first successful breeding season. Last year the pair had eggs but were duds. I was totally stunned as he was normal and no signs of illness until Christmas. He was even in the nest box making a 'new' nest as if they were going to breed again.
I guess it is a relief that no viruses or anything that I did caused his death, just a mystery atm. Hopefully the final tests will provide some answers.....

That's so sad especially when he seemed so healthy and was just starting to breed. He wasn't bitten by something? |
