I am looking to buy a hand raised amazon parrot for my daugters 21st present in may. Babies available in late march/april early may would be perfect. I would prefer a boy parrot...
Please email me at rebecca.grace@live.com or post here.

Hi & welcome, where are you located so we can direct you in the right direction as far as Breeders in your area. I think you will find they chicks would be approx 6 months old by May.
I guess you have done all the necessary research on these parrots as they can be a bit of a hand ful for the novice bird keeper.
That said i do enjoy my BF.

I am located in geelong/melbourne, victoria, but can travel a few hours. I understand they can be a handful, my daughter has done a lot of research and is very good with birds, she used to own a large lorikeet type parrot when she was younger, and she loved it to pieces, it was a adopted terror from a pet stop and wouldn't let anyone but her near it, I don't know how she got him to stop biting, but it loved her, used to nibble her cheek and eyelashes with such gentleness, and would seek me out and attack me when it saw me, haha. Was very sad when he got lost, literally 1 day before he was due for a wing clip. She is mainly wanting a amazon because she is wanting a large bird this time, and something she can train to do tricks, talk, come out everywhere with her on a harness etc. she knows not all birds are guaranteed to do this of course but I have no doubt she will train it well. I understand it might be hard finding one partically in may, due to breeding seasons etc, however late march would suit as well. are there any drawbacks to waiting this long? will it not bond with my daughter? do you know what time of the year it is best to buy one? We are also unsure of what sex to get, my daughter is keen on a male as we have heard bad things about girl parrots, but then someone has told us girl parrots are actually better, we are a bit confused now. She honestly does not care which sex though, she has 2 names picked out for either anyway, lol.
