This is Yindi........he/she is approx 7 months old and I picked him up yesterday while on our trip downsouth. ;D This has been my dreambird since I was in my 20's. He is such a lovely bird.......seems to be settling in well already....early days I know but he seems to be relaxed and happy to be here. He loves to chew on his wooden toys so I guess I will be buying and making plenty of them for him I was awoken this morning at 4.15 am by listening to him quietly chewing on his toys lol (lucky I normally do start to wake up around that time lol) oh and Yindi is an aboriginal word meaning "the sun" I decided since he is a native Aussie he should have a native Aussie name

more pics of Yindi (those who know me know I love to post pics lol) He seems to be settling in very well. Today he is not making as much noise......I have let him out a few times too and he is learning to fly and land on things like boings I have hanging from the ceilings and cages and a playstand I have in the dining room. My eldest son and his fiancee came around to check out Yindi........and he was so impressed with the size of his beak and yet how gentle he is.........he steps up to anyone and has never bitten...........yet he can rip into a piece of wood no problems lol. When Vance (son) left he said "lovely bird you have there mum" I will say though.............he has been raised well........Yindi that is lol (oh and my son too )

Can I first say congratulations on choosing Yindi Tracey, he/she is truly a magnificent bird & will bring you years of joy.
Keep the pics coming post as many as you like. ;D
They really are a very gentle parrot, you would think with a beak as big as a pair of bolt cutters they could do some serious damage. When I had Harley he never once showed any aggression towards anyone.

THANKYOU Robyn you have made the transition for him so much easier. He really does seem to take things in his stride.......even pusscat now lol although he did freak out the first few times he saw pusscat......he just watches him carefully now He can see us in the yard from his cage and he calls to us when he sees us. He has been out of his cage most of the afternoon and he was quiet and happy to just hang around on the boing.......fly to another boing.........fly to another cage......step up onto anyone who wanted him lol ;D Their beaks are sooooo different in shape aren't they to other parrots??? Caillean keeps commenting on the shape.........bolt cutters is exactly the shape isn't it lol He is letting me pat him and scratch him around the head.......lifts his wings for a scratch too

oh well I just can't help myself.......the novelty "Might" wear off........one day lol Here he is once again Eating some nuts. He was watching me from the boing and everytime I looked at him he gave a soft little call ....... so sweet lol He knows where this boing is and it is his fav at the moment. Notice the redtail black cocktoo pic in the background? I made that one a few years ago. I bought the cockatoo at a market probably over 10 years ago and a few years ago finally got around to getting hubby to make me a frame for it. Actually I had a front door made especially for me in my house (the one I had about 18 years ago) and it was an imitation leadlight picture of a redtail black cockatoo sitting on a branch with gumnuts on it with the tail fanned out so you could see the red on his tail..........I loved that door and it was a one of a kind because they made the picture for me exactly as I asked them to do.......gumnuts and all ......... just a snippet of info

but wait there is more was having a bit of me time when I think Yindi spotted pusscat and "up went the crest" lol he loves this boing.......well he is more confident with this boing anyway......it bounces and he flaps ..... great exercise yesterday afternoon I spent it making him a couple of natural branch perches while he was out on the boing. He was flapping from the boing to the cage, to the chair and back again, then he flapped to a small portable perch then he made it to my shoulder.......and proceeded to try on my earrings.......so he went back on the boing

Yindi has been with us for almost 2 weeks now. He is settling in well. We seem to be working out a routine now.....especially his night time feed ....... he calls and I feed him lol We have a little play after he has eaten and he is getting used to being up a little later too now and is getting much better at Caillean trying to handle him now too. I came inside and still had my hat on and went to his cage and went to take him out and he almost had a coranary lol ........ screaming and flapping........so the hat came off and he was fine Anyway I took these about half an hour ago.

here is Yindi again He is settling in nicely. Eating well........yells to let me know at night time he needs/wants/demands to be fed his formula but it is getting later and later in the arvy now.......so eventually he will probably forget about it lol Anyway he loves to be out flying around and loves to be on this particular boing. He flies from boing to playstand to cage to chair etc etc but on the boing or in particular this boing he flaps and swings and actually holds on with his wings at times lol check me out mum loving the boing Caillean giving Yindi a scratch his flying is getting more and more confident too now that he is more familiar with his new home.

thankyou I think he is lovely and I am lucky my husband just said "yes" when I asked plus I promised this is the last bird........he just smiled a "knowing" smile.........while I said "honest it is the last bird" I am waiting for the dna results I did last week to put me out of my suspense .......... so then I can knowingly say "he" or "she"
