Well iam a sucker for a bird in need and these girls where in need he was going to let them go if he could not sell them , so got 5 for $800 and a 10 x10 Avery sounds silly i know but he was a strange old fellow so i will keep the pair and sell the other girls i could not watch him set them free it would have been a slow painful way for them to go. so had to do a few quick mod on an Avery for them mesh over the wire but they are safe till i find them a new home where they are wanted and loved 1 is going to Sydney and has a pretty boy waiting her arrival. j

Wow... five for $800... I need to go and see what that is in dollars and I'll probably weep....
OMG.... this is what it equals... 664.794 USD
I would pay that much for one.. And were they wild caught?
When I had my breeders I only bought the wild caught cockatoos as I found them to make better parrents and sweeter personalities than the domestic raised birds.

wild caught birds are illegal here??? Don't know how you got wild caught ones??? Maybe there are people who can still legally trap them and import them??

Here the importation ban on wild caught birds was passed in 1994..
All my breeders were purchased from the facilities a couple of years prior to the ban and then most bought from other breeders who had wild caught in their averies..
An open band ID was placed on the bird for identification location although I do have a few without bands.
Crossing the border into Mexico one can see some beautiful birds offered up for sale by the roadside.
As much as it would be good to buy them at the dirt cheap prices we can't bring get back into the country.

Tracey there are people that are still aloud to legally catch birds and i dont agree with it as it aint fair on the bird and can bring all sorts of things in to you aviaries
Red caps, crimson rosellas, red rumps, western rosellas, eastern rosellas, port lincons, 28s are some of the species that are aloud to be caught

Really!!! I knew there were some people who could legally trap but I thought it was for zoos and such.

Some years ago when we first got into birds, we knew someone who used to catch wild cockatoos in the country and sell them.
