I am getting depressed as my guys are doing nothing! My green cheeks are not even looking at going down and my female quaker laid one egg in the water dish and then nothing! Now it is getting warmer I think i have missed the boat, it's really sad as after everything I have been through I was hoping for some bubs this season

My Green Cheeks aren't doing anything either Angelic nor the Kaks, Scarlets, Turks and Redrumps. They drive you mad, its supposed to be the natural instinct to breed in summer. The new Princess Parrot girl is finally letting Jack near her (after weeks of screeching and beaking him) he was feeding her on the weekend, fingers crossed there.

Yes good to see you AV! Dont worry, alot hasnt happened for me yet aswell. I have had a couple of disapointments. My hen Plumhead died while sitting on a fertile clutch of eggs, and moustache parrots laying and then not sitting on the eggs because the silly thing buried them!
On a brighter note, I have 2 fledged slatey heads, suns and quakers on eggs!

I now have 3 Eastern Rosella babies. The grey show budgie has been sitting on eggs for quite a while now, last night I found that the yellow budgie (who keeps laying eggs and they disappear) sitting in the box. I pushed her out but half an hour later she was back in. Hopefully she will keep incubating them. Quails due to hatch very soon. 3 tiel hens sitting on eggs as well.

Thanks Tracey, I wish I had a few more........It's 4 baby Rosellas now, but no budgies. I hope if they hatch she looks after them. The grey budgie is still out in the cold. I've been candling all the eggs, its an interesting exercise which I haven't done before. Now I know what to expect to hatch and what won't. The only ones I haven't done are the budgie eggs as its a bit hard to get to, will try tonight (I'm curious). Expecting the quails to hatch soon.

It is disappointing, but it's best to know rather than waiting 21 days and nothing. Still waiting for the quails to hatch. Maybe the peachface will lay again. She has only just got her partner in July but they bonded so thought there was a chance.

Still only the baby Rosellas, I hope they survive the hot spell, no quails yet. I have 4 tiel hens sitting on eggs. I moved the Elegants and Bourke Pairs into the breeding cabinets and moved the Scarlett Chested and Turk pairs out, got sick of waiting for them. They have breeding boxes if they should decide to do something.

Your secrets safe with me Robyn. LOL. How is everyone coping with this hot weather. I hate it....... Its so hard keeping the baby Rosellas alive in a very hot breeding box. Today a baby tiel hatched. Bring on the cool change supposedly on Monday.

Weather up here is 30 degrees today and overcast so its not to bad. Laraine if you can take the lids off the nest boxes that will help. Also i have 90% shadecloth over my cages so when very hot i go hose them down. Have you got any mist sprays set up round your aviaries that also helps & doesn't use a great deal of water. I did hear on the news it was going to be around the 40 degree mark in NSW. OUCH.

It was 42 at my place today, its still 36 and stinking hot. I do lift the lids on the boxes on a hot day. So far I haven't lost any babies today. I moved the 2 boxes down lower today and the daddy tiel sat on the baby/eggs all day. I hosed them 4 times today, they loved that. Hopefully we are expected to get a change during the night.

It was about the same here Larine and it was still over 30 at 10pm, all the babies survived and I actually had some love bird babies hatch during the heat. I have moved all my fledged love bird babies into their own aviary and they are settling in well there are some very nice colours amongst them, it looks like the six eggs are going to hatch from one box but I am only seeing two of the four in the other box it appears the teils have abandoned their eggs for some reason however the budgies are going great guns.
