I have bred galahs many times so i dont get over excited, i have also bred quite a few greys just hope this clutch is better than last. im more excited about my new birds arriving soon [RTBs] although many of you probably would rather have the greys. I would also love to breed my macaws havent had an egg from either pr yet. Hope you find reading about my season interesting and im not boring you all. I will add some photos in my photobucket in a few weeks.

RTB's don't bore us and some of us don't especially want a grey over a RTB ;D (even though I would not say no to a macaw or a grey lol ........ there is no pleasing me sometimes PMSLOL)

yes sorry Laraine I thought every one knew what that abreviation meant lol Actually my eldest son commented to me a couple of weeks ago when we were talking about birds and RTB's came up in converstation and he said "haven't you wanted one of those for a long time" ....... I was surprised he remembered as he was probably only around 7 or 8 at the time when I first said I wanted one (he will be 30 later this year).

Im not that good with the computer, i wish i knew how to add pics to my post but i will put some in my photo bucket when i can. I will hand rear the first round of galahs so will bring them in soon. All my breeders are hand reared which may make a difference to there clutch sizes, i find them far steadier to breed from than parent reared.

if you have a photobucket account it is easy.........you just click on the IMG link I think (I have't done it via photobucket for a while and quite often i just play with the links and preview the post before clicking to post it ...... to make sure i have put the picture and not just a link........I don't like going into links to see pics......I like to see the pic

do you handraise them if they don't feed them??? I assume you do ;D it is just easier though if the parents feed them for the first few weeks hey

I would rather the parents rear them all the way, we have too many hand reared greys and theres a good demand for future breeding stock since the import ban, im going to leave them tonight and see what happened in the morning.

it is morning here Alemap ;D how are the chicks.
I have tried 3 times to leave a chick in the nest with my ekkies...........with no success and was very lucky to pull the last fellow at 7 weeks because they had stopped feeding him and he was not a well little boy.........but he is now doing very well and I weaned him at 16 weeks and his new family adore him and send me updates on him ;D I did let my alex's raise to the end last year

3 chicks still doing well and growing fast. will get photos when i ring them next week. 6 galah chicks now being hand fed i lost to when we had some untimely fireworks just down the road must have upset the adults and the other 2 eggs were dead in shell i put that down to the high humidity from all the rain we had in feb and march. I have been mixing oystershell fine grit to my pulses and egg food for the winter months as an experiment could be why i had so many eggs. i dont feed when they are feeding chicks though, its too early to tell if this benifits the birds. I done this as i have shingle on my aviary floors and some of the birds were picking out the sea shells and crunching up.

shame about the losses.........but great about the live chicks.
Interesting about the oystershell in your birds food.
