What a cute little bubbie, a bit different to baby birds. Well I had 6 baby tiels and now I only have 2 left. Its the same every year with these 2 pairs of birds. I don't know why, on Sunday I checked the smallest baby and its crop was fairly full, then this morning - dead.

can you handraise them in future Laraine???

Its really hard for me to handraise at the moment. I leave home at 7.30am and don't get home until 6.15pm 5 days a week. I'm going to take the pair out and put them into an aviary without breeding boxes. They have been breeding for years now and this problem developed last season.
On a happier note the peachfaces are sitting on 3 eggs and so is the Eastern Rosella. Also another pair of tiels in another aviary are sitting on 4 eggs. She is a much younger hen and this is her second season.

I am so lucky to be able to take my birds to work. Although I am kind of waiting for a complaint. But I am going to resign ........... so I can stay at home and get my housework done and look after my family (feathered/furred and human) better. So hopefully by the end of the school year I will be a stay at home mum again.......and soooo looking forward to it again.

lol yeah you would get strange looks Laraine. I have been known to take a box into the shops with me and get asked ..... what is in the box?? LOL they are surprised to find chicks and one actually said "you should not have them in here and I said well I couldn't leave them in the car!!! They are always covered with a blanket if I have to pop in quickly to the shops so no one even notices except the door security.

An update. The first baby tiel came out of the box yesterday and is sitting up on the perch looking like "jackie" so cute. The second baby had an empty crop this morning, but I didn't have time to give her a feed. I'll check her again tonight. Thank heavens for daylight saving as it is now light when I get home from work. The Peachfaces are sitting on 5 eggs. Eastern Rosella sitting on 5 eggs. Tiels sitting on 4 eggs (due to hatch soon) Two Showbudgies sitting on one each. Quail sitting on a whole bunch (as they do). Princess Parrots - I introduced Jack to the new blue female on Sunday. He was keen but she squarked and beaked him when he came near. Situation has not changed. Nothing from Scarlets and Turks, they have until mid November or I will take them out and put a pair of Elegants and pair of Burkes in. Nothing from the 4 pairs of Red Rumps either. They continue to be a big disappointment. Only one has bred in the 2 years I have had them. That just about covers all the action to date.

I have had an exceptional breeding season so far, peach face laid 10 eggs hatched nine and are sitting on another ten eggs, number is split between 2 pair, one pair has seven and the other pair 3, budgies laid seven eggs hatched all seven another two pair are sitting on fourteen eggs between them and have hatched nine of the fourteen so far, all my tiels are up for sale and are slowly going, ready to buy some more budgies and I have seen some very nice pied peach face for sale so I am looking to add to my breeding flock.
