It was disappointing.......all I can think is that it was 1 deg that night and they died from the cold. Hopefully she will lay again.

Laraine - You must have been shattered, keep your chin up. Hope she does go again for you. We have had some cold nights too at 3 to 4 degrees. I suspect there are some more cold westerlies to come yet.

Two little jellybeans now.... That's fantastic Laraine, the baby I bought off you a couple of months ago has hatched all six eggs and is being the perfect mother, are the new ones you have from the same parents as the ones you sold me? if so keep me informed on their progress and if you want to sell them let me know I will certainly buy them off you. John

The hen who lost the 3 babies was from that batch. The one sitting on babies/eggs is the mother of some of yours.

Update: Lutino red rump and eastern rosella both sitting on one egg each. That is the aviary I have had a problem with in the past but have removed the Peachies.

My Plumhead has laid he first egg today. She has stayed in the box for the last couple of nights. Should she keep coming out to feed or should she stay sitting on the egg/eggs most of the time.? The cockbird does feed her regularly on the pirch or at the entrance to the nest. We are having some cold winds at the moment. I hope the eggs are OK. Last year she laid her first egg on Aug 17 but they did not hatch. She is 3 this year. Maybe she was too young last year. Comments appreciated. Thanks

Hi John
Do you remember the baby you came back for, the pretty yellowish one. I found the same one I kept dead the other morning. If you happen to get that colour in amongst your babies, I would be interested in buying one. I don't think I'll get those colours again as I lost the mother a few months back. Thanks.

That's sad Laraine she is a lovely hen and is sitting on 5 or six babies at the moment from what I can see there are a couple of the babies that will be the same colour so I will keep an eye on them and see how they develop, at the moment I have a lot of nice colours at the moment, in particular I have two the same as the ones I got off you, if you have some spare time come over and have a look you may see something you like ;D ;D John

I'll take you up on that John, just let me know when they are ready. The hen that lost the 3 babies is sitting on an egg again. The 2 others are getting quite big, no feathers yet. The easter/tiel egg disappeared, they have been sharing a box. I have other spares but they both want that one!!

I'm getting a bit frustrated with my budgies (and also my cat who keeps stepping on my keyboard lol). The budgie who has been patiently sitting on 3 eggs this morning was kicked out of her box and the eggs all broken. Now another female has taken over the box........ I have taken the first mum out as she seemed to be getting picked on. The 2 show budgies are getting "bum fluff". Lutino Red Rump sitting on 3 eggs.

I bought the female in and she laid an egg that night, that explains why she was so uncomfortable. I put the egg under the red rump as they are the only eggs at present, then this morning there was a lonely egg in another breeding box so shoved that under her as well. Lol. Don't like wasting an egg. Will put her back in on the weekend, but she has lost her breeding box to another budgie. That makes 3 that all wanted the same box. Its right on the end so maybe that is why.

I currently have 4 little pink Indian ringneck chicks My Galahs are still working their log and my cockateils are sitting on three eggs. The peach faced lovebirds are also nesting and so are the masks.
